Earthquake Prophecy for Trinidad... sigh!

So I heard that Benny Hinn said that there was going to be a great earthquake in Trinidad on February 24th 2011. Well, the 24th has come and gone and there's been no earthquake. But wait. Was it really Benny Hinn?

It would seem that there was another guy in the mix. A guy who calls himself DR LESLIE ROGERS.

One of his fans posted a note on a blog which has been circulating the Trini blog scene. Here it is:

There's a POWERFUL prophet in our country named Dr. Leslie Rogers...he's one of the most renowned and accurate prophets. He held an annual prophetic conference to which I went to the Friday that Rick gave his testimony in the Reinzi Complex, it was HUGE. All of his prophecies he has ever gave came to past. And he has the track record and testimonies from others to prove it. Predictions about disasters, government...not only in our country but in other countries as well, he made and they ALL came to past (he has them on tape from when he made them too so he also got the evidence.)

Anyway, he made a prophecy about Trinidad . Hurricanes and earthquakes were always targeted by Trinidad (which is true) but he said that God has been merciful and long-suffering with us and He keeps sparing our land.

But Trinidad in the year 2011 will be hit by an earthquake...even WORSE than Haiti . Many will PERISH. This earthquake will happen North, South and West of this country (amazingly it's where all the major clubs and crimes are). He said that only Trinidad will be hit, not Tobago and it will occur early in the morning before 6:00AM. Signs will occur he said, Barbados and Grenada will begin to show signs of tremors, fishermen will begin to come from the seas and talk about how the fishes are acting weird and strange (According to the book of Job animals and fishes can predict these impending disasters and proof of this is that they begin to act weird). Also, its INEVITABLE. This is not demonic but divine. God is sending judgment to the land and especially to the church. He included also that there are wicked people in the church and God is fed up of them.

He placed his entire reputation on the line (as usual) with this prophetic word. And there is no doubt in my heart that this will happen. Stuff that I have never seen before in my country, I see them happening now and its so disturbing. No wonder God is going to do this.

A counter note on godlikeproductions.com from a user called "The enlightened77" seems to portray the "The Prophet" as a fake.

I was tickled when I read about this "Dr"Leslie Rogers predictions about the so called massive earthquake to imminently hit Trinidad that would be worse than that of Haiti. Fact is this guy is a fraud and a liar. He does not have an accredited doctorate degree from any bona fide University. He even conferred upon his young son, the bogus title of "Dr." Many of his predictions fail but he continues to spout out a lot of hot air to frighten the gullible and fleece his flock.

He humiliated his wife in front of his congregation and left her for a young girl in his church. Shameless adultery is by no means new to this con man. He bears no fruit of the Spirit as portrayed in Galatians 5:22 i.e. Love, joy, peace, long suffering gentleness, goodness, faith and self-control.

He claims to be "born again" but the evidence shows it is not "from above." He is a showman who decks himself in the finery of gold at the expense of the gullible. He is a fraud and a "profit" but not a prophet of God. He aspires to attain the status of a prophet, but he is NOT chosen by God (2 Peter1:21). Those who have ears to hear let them know that his predictions concerning Trinidad will fall flat at the first hurdle.

Jeremiah 23:14 tells us: "I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness. v.16, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken NOT unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, [and] not out of the mouth of the LORD."

A true prophet will not deceive the people as leslie Rogers does.

Jeremiah 28:9 reminds us: "The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, [then] shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him."

A true prophet's predictions must come to pass, ALL of them.

Matthew. 7:15 warns us: "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. ... Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither [can] a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. ...Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."

In closing let me leave the readers with words of Moses in Deuteronomy 18:21, 22 - " And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? when a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt NOT be afraid of him."

  1. Interesting, I tried a Christian bipolar support group last week and one of the people there spent a lot of time talking about God's judgement and so on. I told him we heard the same thing when we left New Orleans about Katrina.

These kind of prophesies are not limited to the fringe of the born agains. I've heard the same thing for years from some of the esoteric societies. I once read a thesis comparing the two, and its remarkable how much they have in common.

  4. The PROPHECY given by Dr. Leslie Rogers did NOT have any date attached to it. The one from Benny Hinn I cannot speak about because I have no information on it but as God is my witness, Dr. Leslie Rogers NEVER gave any date about any earthquake. With reference to the comments on his personal life ask him and discuss it with him if you want to know so badly. And FYI, if you do happen to know about some fault in a man or woman of God it has automatically become your duty to PRAY for them NOT use the opportunity to bash them because they are still a man or woman of God and are still a soul that is in dire need of salvation. If you are indeed a CHRISTIAN you would make it your duty to pray for the person so that their soul and the souls of those that they are responsible for will not perish. Stop bringing the church of God into disrepute. No wonder the world is so full of SINNERS. What would Jesus Christ do in this situation?

Jehovah have the final say. Condemning a man of God or bringing him down does not make you have a closer walk with God. Rather salvation is between you and God. Often time we need to ask ourselves. If God comes now Am I ready.

  5. It disturbs me to hear that people are not hearkening to the voice of God in this country. All the scoffers and abusers be careful when speaking about God's anointed. God said Touch not my anointed and do mine prophets no harm in Psalm 105:15. You are all burying yourselves. Be careful not to commit suicide indirectly. Repent of this immediately if you want to live ind peace and right standing with God.

  6. Dear Mr Christian,
You need to come to the Catholic church. We don't advertise our Miracles, because our job is to show love, feed the poor and share the good news. You want to see prophets, miracles and God's work, well we have thousands of people who have testified to the wonderful love of Christ. Send me your contact info and I will be happy to bring you to the church founded by Jesus Christ.

  7. Dear Sean,
I left Roman Catholicism a long time ago and have no intentions of returning to it.
Feeding the poor and sharing good news is good. The good news you refer to is the Bible.
The very good news speaks about miracles in John 14: 12-14 So miracles are sanctioned by Jesus Christ. The good news speaks about Prophets and prophecy. We can both agree that Jesus Christ came to save the world and they that trust in him shall never be ashamed. The New Testament is the fulfilment of the Old Testament.Read the following references you would learn that Prophets exist today to:
    1. Edify the Church of God, to comfort us and to exhort us(1 Corinthians 14)
    2. Warn(Acts 11: 27-28)
    3. To convict sinners(1 Corinthians 14: 24-25)
    4. To unlock gifts in individuals (1 Timothy 4:14)
    5. To tell the future (Revelation or any of the Prophetic books or the Psalms)
Sean,Prophets are real. In Matthew 10:41 (again the New Testament) Jesus says " Whoso receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward"
.1Thessalonians 5:20 "Despise not prophesyings".1Chronicles 20:20 "And they rose early in the morning and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, Believe in the Lord God and so shall ye be established. Believe his prophets and so shall you prosper." Prophets = prosperity.Revelation 19:10 says "And I fell at his feet to worship him and he said See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Worship God: fro the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of Prophecy". Any organization that disregards PROPHECY is not of JESUS CHRIST. Think again before you bash prophecy. The spirit of PROPHECY is the very essence of CHRISTIANITY.Sean darling, you need truth.I am not bashing you.You are someone who needs Jesus Christ. I was like you and I know what it is like to desire truth and to have complete faith in something. There is hope for you. Iknow and I feel for you. But don't ever jump into arguments where you do not have actual evidence. It's senseless. Please accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Send me your contacts and I would carry you to a place where you can read the Bible and be taught the Word of God. You can ask questions just reinforce all your points with the Bible. Come to Prophetic Missions International at #21 Yard Street, Chaguanas. You can meet my mother and I in Curepe for 2:00 pm on Sunday. You can come as a skeptic. We are committed to progress and advancement in God's kingdom and we believe that you are important. You have work to do in the kingdom of God and it is time to do it for God.He raised Jesus from the dead for you and me and everyone else. Please come. Your life will never be the same after the visit.
BTW: Deuteronomy 18:22 states "When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken presumptuously, thou shalt not be afraid of him." If the earthquake does not come to pass, know that God does not use Dr. Leslie Rogers but if it does, know that he is indeed a prophet of God to be feared and respected. Thanks for reading and I hope that what was said gives you some food for thought. Please reply.
    Thanks. Shawnelle

    ReplyDelete
  10. Dear Rasida Rogers,
What do you mean when you say the Catholic Religion is "the worlds largest colt?"
Also, what should I call your "prophet": man, fella, person, dude, george, his majesty, king, lord, holu one?
I would without any problem tell him that I do not believe him to be a prophet of God. but only if our paths cross since I have no intention to go meet with him in Chaguanas. But since you live around Chaguanas, you should come to the Jesus Explosion usually held every year in Preysal Secondary School. You would like it. it is what we catholics call Charismatic... and follows a programme similar to pentecostal tent revivals.
We Christians must stick together against this evil world. There are many who choose to divide us.

Remember Matthew 7:22-23 - Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME.

and Mark 9:38-41 - John said to Him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me. “For he who is not against us is for us. “For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because of your name as followers of Christ, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward.

  11. Rasida Rogers - before you start being so insulting I suggest you read up on the history of the Catholic church, educate yourself and pray for tolerance.

I personally know a Catholic who has recently been moved by Dr Rogers but at the same time, is not leaving the Catholic Church. Whilst it is highly possible that Dr R is being used by the Holy Spirit as many of us in Ministry are, I'm not sure that he's a prophet. Only someone with the gift of discernment could confirm that.

I researched Dr Rogers and the only thing I could find on him was that he attended a Prophet's Conference in Jamaica in the early 2000s. That's not very encouraging. In addition I found his website, joined up and still can't access it! All I can see is a dove flying over a bell tower. That's not very encouraging either.

With all due respect, it would be interesting
to know what makes you think that this man is as you put it, "one of the greatest prophets".
Also, I'm not saying that this is the case in Dr R's Ministry but you do know that evil can present itself as good, don't you?

Followers of Christ whether they be Catholic, Pentecostal, Evangelists, Anglicans etc... should be tolerant of one another but sadly, they are not as you have shown in your awful, prejudiced comment.

The UWI earthquake people are saying we should have a big earthquake soon. What is a big earthquake, as the richter scale defines the magnitude, but damage is caused by distance from epicenter and depth... The neighbouring venesuelan state of sucre is responsible for most of our shakes. Is it that a big earthquake there, constitutes our big earthquake. Lastly an earthquake in 2011 is not a prophetic prediction, it is a reality... to believe a prophet we need to be given specific information, NOT VAGUE and akin to the oracle of Delphi.

  21. To Rasida. Slavery was acceptable to the muslims, Christians and Jews... check out
    Ephesians 6:9,
    Leviticus 25:44-46
    1 Timothy 6:1-2
    Luke 12:47-48
    Exodus 21:2-6
    Exodus 21:7-11
    Exodus 21:20-21

Further, I am also a student of Secular History. ... maybe you are... You should know that The Christian Church at the time of Columbus was mostly Roman, but your Columbus statement, concerns me that you have some unresolved issues about Europeans.... God created all races beloved... you must try to stop justifying your prejudice with historical issues. You may miss the lessons that history is giving us in favour of agendas and prejudices.

Further, Sociologists have specific criteria for identifying religions: the Catholic Church meets those criteria. I don't agree with Johnstone and his 7 criteria, but he is the foremost name on the topic.

Wikipedia: "By sociological typology, cults are, like sects, new religious groups. The characteristic that most distinguishes cults is that they are not advocating a return to pure religion but rather the embracement of something new or something that has been completely lost or forgotten (e.g., lost scriptures or new prophecy). Cults are also much more likely to be led by a charismatic leader. Cults, often integrate elements of existing religious theologies, but cults tend to create more esoteric theologies synthesized from many sources. Cults tend to emphasize the individual and individual peace...

    THINK ABOUT IT!

I have searched but i cannot find where the UN defines the catholic Church as a cult. I will Ask my Cousin, as he and his wife worked for the UN for several decades. They returned from their French posting not that long and are now retired in NY... May God bless you as much as He has blessed them, in their careers.

Lastly. Please read the article being referenced. I have identified two opposing points on your Prophet... I have not propogated hate toward him. I personally have no interest in meeting him. ... as you have no interest in meeting the Catholic Archbishop (or maybe you do?) Why do you think it is that you and others in your church choose to attack me? Is it that, they do not read and understand? I do not know. Please enlighten me sister in Christ.

  22. Rasida Rogers are you any relation to Dr Rogers??? I hope not because he would be ashamed of your poor English.

What do you think Christianity is? It's the following of Christ as is Roman Catholicism. Roman Catholicism is not a cult. Your remark that it is tells me that you know nothing of the Catholic Church and I doubt that you know much about Christianity either. Show me one document where the United Nations has said that the church is a cult.

So you're going to blame slavery on the Catholic church and not individuals? The fact that Columbus was a Catholic has absolutely nothing to do with slavery. Slavery was the worst thing that could have happened to any race but guess what - it's still going on today. You want to talk slavery?? Not a problem. Go back to African history and for starters, see how many Africans sold their own. That should give you some food for thought to be going on with.

You are dealing with some very well educated people here so I suggest you get your facts straight. You are intimating that you are well educated. However, so called well educated people can be fooled as well. You can send a jackass to university and all you'll get when he/she graduates is an educated jackass! Hence so called diplomats who are mere civil servants.

Your last sentence (much like the rest of your comment) does not make sense. In addition your grammar is appalling and in case you don't know, apart from the fact that you have mixed the singular and the plural, it's 'a UN...' not 'an UN....'. One cannot put 'an' in front of a vowel except for the letter 'h' e.g. an hotel. You can put 'a' in front of 'y' as that can be seen as a vowel as well.

BTW my subjects are History and English so come back when you have something to debate.

Prophet Rogers later married his second wife who also bore him four more children. Today, he is presently married to his third wife who bore him three more children. Prophet Rogers was never married to the mother of his first child.

  29. As a former member of this Ministry I write in pain. As many on this blog have said Love is the paramount expression of Christianity. Even when we are correcting each other as the word requires us to do to errant persons. Everything we do must be in Love that we might show forth His Grace and Mercy.

Rasida I agree with one of the comments your English is poor and our points poorly expressed. There is NO REASON to degenerate into name calling and disrespect. You will never win persons over to Christ that way. It is base and demeaning of the Word which as Christians we represent.

I would also like to point out that stating that there will be an earthquake in Trinidad is no Prophetic feat because of our geography it is expected. So if no specifics were given this 'prophesy' does not meet the criteria to be taken as a Prophesy but just an utterance.

As a former member I would say that any one with a logical brain would find him to be tedious, repetitive, lacking in focus and egotistical. Please prayer for his victims and him that they would experience the complete love of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and that he would walk and lead in submission to Christ and not self.

    Dear Mr Sean,
Who do u think u r to disrespect the church of Jesus Christ and my apostle and prophet????
First of all let me tell u, that is running down Religion that religion is not of God and anybody could make up a religion anytime. The Roman Catolics is a Religion and its also a cult, you all have a whole set of statues amongst the church. The wrd of God say "thou shall not worship idols", isn't that so. You also need to get your facts straight because there was not an appointed date to when the Earthquake is going to come, maybe if u would stop being so ignorant and do a little bit of research you would know, and you need to wash your mouth and stop tlk about my Prophet, a mighty man of God in that manner we won't tolerate this. Christians do not behave like that. You suppose to love thy neighbour as thee love thyself.

    1. Dear Nicolette,

Thank you for comment. I must say I am confused though.

Let me tell you why. Many people have also posted comments. As you see, I put those comments up. They are moderated. That is to say that they do not show up on the blog unless I vet them. I put up comments of almost everyone even if they disagree with my opinions. However, you would notice that many of the comments from your church sisters and brothers are a bit insulting.

Now concerning the actual post (not the comments) if you read it properly you would notice that I myself did not proclaim any judgement on your pastor at that time.

However, I reserve the right to comment as you have.

You need to understand that the book that you have quoted was put together 400 years after the death of Christ. You need to read the writings of the disciples of the original twelve. You need to understand how the Catholic church operates. You need to understand that Martin Luther Kings' most famous letter quotes these early church leaders. Do not allow those who hate to close your mind to the church that Jesus Christ left. Remember what he said to Peter: Feed my sheep.... and what about him saying that the gates of hell shall not prevail? Although we have had bad priests, bishops and popes, they are in the minority. The Catholic church is strong and stands as a beacon, even today, for righteousness.

      God bless you

    2. Nicolette - the Roman Catholic Church is not a cult in the negative way you mean it.

Our English word cult comes from the Latin word cultus, which is a form of the verb colere, meaning "to worship or give reference to a deity."

A Christian 'cult' is a group that claims to be Christian. The Roman Catholic Church does not claims to be Christian - it is Christian.

"A cult of Christianity is a group of people, which claiming to be Christian, embraces a particular doctrinal system taught by an individual leader, group of leaders, or organization, which (system) denies (either explicitly or implicitly) one or more of the central doctrines of the Christian faith as taught in the sixty-six books of the Bible." Ref: Apologetics Index).

Roman Catholics do not worship statues. Because you see statues in the churches does not mean we revere the actual statue. Sadly Nicolette, you have been and are dreadfully misguided and obviously know nothing of the Catholic faith. Please see next paragraph which may if you are open minded enough, give you some idea of just one of the reasons we have statures.

"Catholics use statues, paintings, and other artistic devices to recall the person or thing depicted. Just as it helps to remember one’s mother by looking at her photograph, so it helps to recall the example of the saints by looking at pictures of them. (Catholic Answers)

Terrance, My brother in Christ, I am sorry that you feel this way. I am not a prophet yet I know that one day soon we MAY experience any of the following:

      Civil Unrest
      Earthquake
      Flood
      Hurricane
      Drought
      War
      Blood in the street
      Debauchary

Our history has shown that we have experienced all of these, and that we may very well experience them again.

For me to beleive your prophet he needs to be specific. Otherwise to me, he is no better than the fella who proclaimed the end of the world last year.

As Catholics we put together the old testament books in the bible around 400AD to show the prophecy of the coming of the Christ. We chose the books for the new testament. We are the true church left by Jesus. Don't take my word for it. Read. Research. Understand. Sure there will be people who promote hate, but remember "the gates of hell shall not prevail against this church" The Catholic church is a church of love. 25%of the world hospitals are run by catholics, We founded most of the Universities in Europe before world war one. We promote music, art and liturature. Our history is full of people who have led such great lives filled with Christ (saints and martyrs). We have such profound liturature other than the bible (did I mention that we put that together in 400AD).

Do not hate. That is not of God.
